July Meeting
New Business:
Secretary Peggy Savage was absent
Treasurer's report: Reviewed by Treasurer Sally Vancil
It was reported that we have 17 pre-registered riders for the PPR ride.
Bob gave us an update on our new route which will go up thru Dayton, Sheridan, and Norway. Kent will check into having the museum in Norway open for those riders who would be interested in taking a tour. The route would use only 3 rest stops: the YMCA, Sheridan and Marseilles. The short road ride and canal riders would use the Marseilles rest stop. The 60 mile and 100 mile riders would use Sheridan. Barb Kratz will look into using the Lion's Club in Marseilles for our rest stop location. The new cue sheets will be developed as soon as club members return from Ragbrai.
Ed Kappelman stated that the Saturday road ride will leave at 8:30 am starting on July 3, 2010, due to the warmer weather.
The Gentle Ride will leave from the church parking lot at Commercial and Broadway streets in Marseilles at 8:30 am starting July 3, 2010.
Bob Kratz's name drawn for the 50/50 lotto of $20, and she got to take home $10. Yea Barb!
Everyone is reminded that on Tuesdays when we have a club meeting the riders meeting at Allen Park will meet at 4:30 pm and ride at 4:45 pm.
We have received our new business cards that promote the bike club. They are really cool. Everyone is encouraged to take a few and hand them out to people interested in joining our club. Thanks Ed!
Social Event: The next ride/picnic will be held in October after the PPR ride. Date and time to be announced.
Show and Tell- Sally gave a review of she and Nancy's adventure on the Chicago Late Ride. It was an interesting experience riding downtown Chicago at night, past our bedtimes with 10,000 other riders. A lot of slow starting and stopping, but the ride thru the neighborhoods was worth it. Most people cheered us on. There were people towing stereo systems hooked to car batteries, lots of strange costumes and lots of brightly lit bikes. It was a lot of fun and we finished up about 4:00 am.
